We have used these heated grip kits for years - they make all the difference on a cold morning.
The main two advantages of this kit over other systems are that:
(1) The switch is small and easy to mount just about anywhere, unlike the The switch on the KTM system, in our opinion, is huge, unsightly and often difficult to hide.
(2) This system allows you to use the type of grips YOU want to use (including the Oury & Domino grips we carry). Grips are a personal preference - everyone has a different opinion about what grips work for them. Why limit your options to one style as the KTM heated grip system does?
In our experience, this systems gets the grips hotter than even the factory BMW heated grips. There is a High and Low setting, which works great either in the dead of winter or to take the edge off the chill in the air. This system also allows you to wear thinner, more comfortable gloves. You can save those bulky winter gloves for when you are riding below freezing ... or next time you are skiing.
Even in our southern climates, on a damp, cool morning, this kit will make your digits feel nice and toasty!
TIP: When installing this kit, wrap two layers of electrical tape tightly around where the wires connect onto the heated tape. By doing this simply step, it reinforces the connection and should last for years of service, as they have on our bikes. Also, be sure to have some grip glue on hand to secure the grips to the handlebars, or safety wire if you prefer.
